Once you reach the base of the cliff, the trail runs along the Great Trough Creek itself and undulates over small hills and back into small valleys to go around small marshy areas. All the while the rushing of the running stream can be heard and enjoyed. Eventually the trail (like the road) gets pinched between a cliff going up the mountain and a small cliff down to the creek. After a while the trail comes to one of the parks more noted attractions - the suspension bridge (locally known as the "swinging bridge"). It is just a simple suspension bridge that crosses the creek that has a bit of bounce built in so watch your step!
We decided to not cross the bridge as I wanted my fellow adventurers to see some of the parks attractions. Continuing past the "swinging bridge" we came to the Rainbow Falls. One of the nice things about the Rainbow Falls is that even in the hottest weather there is usually a nice cool breeze drifting down over the falls.

The trail continues up the gully of Rainbow Falls and branches, if you go to the right it will take you up to Balancing Rock and one end of Raven Rock Trail. Be careful as the trails around here can get a bit steep and slippery in spots.
Whether you are into walking, hiking, fishing, camping, photography or mountain biking (check with the office before you go as the State of Pennsylvania decided to let mountain bike access up to each individual state park) this park has a lot to offer. So come on out and have some fun!
Remember - take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but foot prints!
